We can shop alone, go to the gym, and — obviously — do all the regular daily stuff like going to work alone. But for some reason, there are particular things people just find too weird to do solo. Like going out for a meal or going to the cinema.

我们经常要独自去购物、去健身房,当然也要独自处理很多日常的工作,比如一个人去上班等等。但出于某些原因,人们发现有些事情“一个人”做起来会有些别扭,比如说,独自去吃饭或去看电影。



People share their lonely feelings on the Internet and ranged the top 10 international lonely situations, such as having hotpot alone, moving house alone or undergoing surgery alone…

人们时常会在网上分享他们的孤独之感。网上的“国际孤单等级表”就比较热门,其中包括:一个人吃火锅、一个人搬家,还有一个人做手术。



It really sounds terrible because many people consider "being alone" a bad thing. 

这听起来真的很可怕!因为许多人认为“孤单”是坏事。




So if your family members or partner are not at hand, or you leave home to find a job in another city, please don't complain and get discouraged with life. Be positive and enjoy it.

因此,如果你的家人、伴侣不在身边,请不要抱怨,也不要对生活失去信心,调整心态,积极面对,享受独处的时光。



Being alone gives you the perfect opportunity for a little self-reflection. Since you aren't spending so much time processing the thoughts and feelings of others, it's the best time to turn your focus inwards. 

独处时,是进行自我反思的一个绝佳时机。因为这时候的你,不用太顾及他人的想法与感受,你可以把全部注意力转向内心。



Often times when we're surrounded by other people, we're expending a lot of energy. Trying to keep others happy, make them laugh, read their emotions, and manage all of the other rigors that come along with regular interaction.

很多时候,我们处理周围人的关系问题时会消耗大量的精力。例如,试图让他人高兴,读懂其所表达的情感等,掌控与他人交流与互动中产生的各类情绪。



It can be mentally draining if you're constantly connected to other people. A little alone time lets you recharge and take a break from the emotionally and mentally taxing job of constant interaction.

如果这样的互动交流过于频繁,你就会感觉到有些疲惫。给自己留一点独处的时光,能够让你及时充电,舒缓情绪。



So it's easy to enjoy being alone once you realize that doing so gives you more freedom to do the things you actually want to do.

所以一旦你意识到,这样做会让你更自由地去做你真正想做的事情时,你就会很容易喜欢独处的时光。


When you travel alone, what you learn about is yourself. You can further feel your own strengths, weaknesses, and insecurities. Maybe you've never come home from a trip feeling anything less than a better, stronger person.

当你独自旅行的时候,你所了解的就是你自己。你可以进一步感受到自己的优势、劣势和不安全感。也许你从未经历过旅行回家后,感觉自己变成了一个更好、更坚强的人。



And that's because the time spent alone gives you a greater appreciation for yourself. You'll feel more confident in your ability to actually be alone. And that naturally leads to you feeling more independent.

这是因为独处的时间会让你更欣赏自己,你会对自己独处的能力更有信心,自然而然地也会变得更加独立。



You'll no longer feel that anxiety, or burning desire for company, once you learn to enjoy being alone. You won't feel the need for constant interaction with other people, or the anxiety associated with looking around and seeing no one but yourself.

一旦学会了独处,你将不再感到焦虑,或是急切渴望他人的陪伴。一旦耐得住寂寞,学会享受独处时光,你就不会觉得自己急切需要与他人不断地互动,在环顾四周只有自己的情况下,也不再会感到焦虑不安。


So when you wake up and open the window, would you like to enjoy the sunshine in the morning, hearing the birds and cicadas chirping, and recalling the interesting things around you? You could feel you have grown up gradually.

所以,当你起床打开窗户时,你是否在享受清晨的一缕缕阳光,感受鸟叫蝉鸣,回想发生在身边的趣闻趣事?你也会发觉自己在一步步成长。
